Buddy Troupes - by Leslie Sapp
ATTENTION SPONSORS:
Do you remember that first mind boggling year that you became a sponsor and had to bring your new troupe out into the Thespian world on your own? It can be very intimidating to be a new sponsor and a new troupe. We would like to try and eliminate some of the chaos that new sponsors and troupes often face.

This is where you come in. You can help these new sponsors and troupes by becoming a buddy troupe. You and your students will have the opportunity to meet new sponsors and Thespians and help them to begin their journey. Please consider becoming a buddy troupe. If you would like more information about becoming a buddy troupe, please contact your area representative.

Leadership Conference - by Lizzy Druga Leadership Conference is coming up on September 21st, 2002, at Westerville South High School. It will be a full day of activities from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. There will be workshops, area meetings, a SSO Training session, and college auditions. Each troupe may send four delegates for the conference, two for SSO Training, and two for college auditions, one each for tech and acting.

The workshops will be presented by this year's SSOs and State Board members. The topics include: personal improvement as a leader; proactive leadership, talking about dealing with others; troupe concerns, a question and answer forum; effective speaking; individual events; Bob Fose scholarship; and the All-Ohio show. The SSO Training session, which all candidates must attend at Leadership or their area conference, will cover everything you need to know about the job.

If you're interested in attending this year's Leadership Conference, talk to your troupe sponsor. They have all the necessary paperwork you need to fill out.
